Ian Matson is a Junior from San Antonio, Texas studying International Business and
Spanish at Hillsdale College. In addition to Investment Club, Ian is a member of the
Hillsdale College Drummond Fellowship, a competitive program that enables students to
assist with college events across the country and raise awareness about the societal
benefits of proper hunting and fishing. On campus, he works as a part-time student
worker in the Business and Industry Office when he is not in class.
Ian joined Investment Club because he is passionate about finance and the stock
market and would like to study investing strategies in order to apply the Club’s investing
techniques to his own personal investments. As part of the Club’s application process,
Ian successfully pitched PayPal to the board, which deepened his understanding of both
qualitative and quantitative analysis. He aspires to rise to a high rank within the club
before graduating, at which point he would like to attend law school. He is grateful for
the opportunity to grow alongside his peers at Investment Club and hopes to learn from
his sector leaders so as to take on a more significant role within the club in the future.
